Why we're building
Most of the work that matters is reading, weighing and deciding. We build tools that do more of the reading, so people can do more of the deciding.

Every era of knowledge work has been shaped by its tools. The card catalogue, the typewriter, the spreadsheet, the search box. Each one took a slow part of the work and made it fast, and each one changed how much a person could hold in their head at once.
The intelligence era is the largest of these shifts so far. A tool can now read a whole field overnight, summarize a filing in seconds and draft a first answer to almost any question. That is remarkable. It is also where the conversation tends to go wrong.
The wrong question
Most of the talk about AI asks what it can replace. For anyone who works with what they know, that is the wrong question. The better one is what it can amplify.
Reading is not the same as understanding, and a summary is not the same as a decision. The parts of the work that were always ours, context, taste and judgment, matter more when the reading becomes cheap, not less.
Reading is becoming cheap. Judgment is not.
Where we come from
Analog grew out of research: tracking companies, reading sectors, keeping notes that outlast the news cycle. The tools we wanted for that work did not exist, so we started building them for ourselves, and then for the people around us.
On the benchAnalog Intel and Analog Player are in closed beta. Request an invite and tell us what you would use them for. That is still how we work. Analog Intel began as our own research console. Analog Player began as a way to stop losing the things we saved. Both are in closed beta because we want the people using them close enough to tell us what is wrong.
What we are building toward
Instruments, not oracles. Tools that show their sources, keep the counter-case in view and hand the final call back to the person using them.
Tools that anyone who works with what they know can pick up: a student learning a field, a creator collecting references, a researcher following an argument, an operator running a team, someone planning a trip from forty saved links.
And a structure that lets us keep building. Analog is a venture studio and holding company. Cityscope, our living lab, and Align Works, our software factory, are operating businesses. They put our tools to work every day, and what we learn there comes back to the bench.
Why we write it down
Analog Research is where we think in public. Each piece has a thesis side and a doubt side, because a view that cannot name its own weak spots is not worth much. If we are wrong, we would rather find out early, and in the open.
